WARBURTON

WARBURTON

Feel the sense of wellbeing descend as you arrive in Warburton on the upper reaches of the Yarra River, surrounded by lush, tall forests of mountain ash.

Base yourself in an eco-retreat or cosy cottage and head out to explore the former gold rush town and surrounds.

Get on your bike through farmland and bush from Warburton to Lilydale along the 38-kilometre Centenary Trail, which follows an old railway line built in 1901 to transport local produce and timber to Melbourne.

Pick one of the walks radiating outwards from Warburton into the forests of mountain ash, like the hike to LaLa Falls or the stroll through myrtle beech rainforest to the Ada Tree mountain ash, over 300 years old and one of the world's largest known flowering trees.

Rug up in winter and play in the snow at nearby Mount Donna Buang. Become part of the rainforest by striding out into the canopies of giant eucalyptus trees along the skywalk at Mount Donna Buang Rainforest Gallery.
