Nestled in the Cardamom Mountains, Koh Kong is an ideal destination for travelers who are looking for an economical foray into Cambodia. Located in the most southwestern province of Cambodia, you’ll find islands, jungles, waterfalls, a casino and a zoo nearby. Be sure to book your chosen tour or tours early. You can choose to take an all day or even three day hike into the interior of the province and get to know the Cambodian jungle with your guide.
You can also book a tour to take you out to Koh Kong Island which is known to have some of the most beautiful and untouched, pristine beaches in Southeast Asia. Be sure to take the opportunity to snorkel and see the local, brightly adorned fish. Though it’s not possible to spend the night on Koh Kong Island as it’s a military base, day trips are affordable and well worth the trip. Koh Kong is also home to the largest mangrove estuary in Asia. Back in Koh Kong for the evening, be sure to explore the river front where vendors will begin to pop up after 4 p.m. to sell their wares and freshly squeezed sugarcane juice. Koh Kong is located just a few minutes drive from the Thai border and is great stopover when moving between the two countries.
