Overview

Depart from your hotel and en-route visit a Turtle Hatchery. At the Kosgoda Hatchery the turtle eggs are kept in sandy pens until they are hatched. The newly hatched ones are kept in tanks and released to the sea in the night. This Hatchery alone has released more than 1,750,000 young turtles to the sea. An endowment by the Hasselblad Estate was responsible for the establishment of this hatchery. Thereafter you will be transferred to Balapitiya to experience a Boat ride in Beautiful Madu River. The wonderful and exciting boat ride along the Madu River in Balapitiya is one of a kind. With the boat ride covering the areas and interests such as Mangroves and plants, it also gives a shed of light into the Fish spas, the temple in the village and also the Cinnamon Island where the native family shows their colours. The exciting experience of the fish spa is a must-try. With the Cinnamon Island visit, one could simply understand the whole process of Cinnamon products making and also purchase products here itself. This activity would prove to be nothing but a showcase of a fine experience you can find in Sri Lanka. Galle Dutch Fort - Said to be the famous Tarshish of the Bible is the port where the Portuguese first landed in Sri Lanka. The famous fort in Galle was originally built by the Portuguese in 1589 and named Santa Cruz. After the Dutch occupation, it was destroyed and rebuilt on a larger scale to cover an area of 36 hectares. Fortified by the Dutch who ruled maritime Sri Lanka in the 17th & 18th centuries the city still retains the air of old Holland. Old Dutch churches and monuments with armorial bearings, well-preserved fort and ramparts, imposing crested and monogrammed gateway dated 1669, many well preserved Old Dutch houses and narrow alleys still bearing Dutch names. Next onto a visit of a local market in Galle before you return back to your hotel.

Driving times - Sri Lanka is still a developing nation where infrastructure and highways haven’t been developed yet. Therefore, even though at a glance of a map the places of interest seem very close by, the drive times may differ See below transfer times which are approximate, from Colombo 2.5 hours, from Negombo and Waikkal 3 hours, from Wadduwa, Kalutara, Beruwala and Bentota, 1.5 hours, from Hikkaduwa 45 minutes, from Tangalle and Hambantota 2 hours.

Timings are approximate and depend on the traffic condition and are for one way.
